Evidence, benchmarks and audience intelligence to help arts and culture organisations make better decisions

Arts and culture organisations are making big decisions in a difficult environment. Audiences are changing, funding is under pressure, digital expectations are rising, and teams are being asked to do more with limited time and resources.

The Insights Hub is being developed to help cultural organisations make those decisions with clearer evidence, shared learning and practical context.

It will bring together research, benchmarks, surveys, audience trends, briefings, dashboards and pulse checks, so organisations can better understand what is changing, what is working and where to focus next.

The build is already in progress. We are now looking for early members, partners and seed funders who want to help shape the first version and make the hub genuinely useful for the sector.

The problem we want to solve

Many cultural organisations have access to some data, but that does not always mean they have useful insight.

Website analytics, ticketing reports, survey results, campaign data, funding reports and audience feedback often sit in different places. Teams may know something is changing, but not always have the time, tools or shared reference points to interpret what it means.

That makes it harder to answer important questions, such as:

  • What is changing in audience behaviour?
  • Which campaigns, channels or messages are working?
  • How do our results compare with similar organisations?
  • Where are people dropping out of the journey?
  • What do audiences, participants or communities need next?
  • Where should we focus limited time and budget?

The Insights Hub is designed to reduce that noise and turn scattered evidence into practical understanding.

What we are building

The Insights Hub will be a shared evidence and learning space for arts, culture and heritage organisations.

It will help organisations understand audience needs, visitor behaviour, participation, campaign performance, digital maturity, funding priorities, community engagement and wider sector trends.

The aim is not to create another general blog or opinion feed. The aim is to build a useful, evidence-led hub that helps organisations make better decisions and take more confident action.

The hub will include:

  • Reports that explore important themes, challenges and opportunities in more depth.
  • Benchmarks that help organisations compare performance in context, without turning insight into simplistic league tables.
  • Surveys that gather original evidence from organisations, audiences, participants and communities.
  • Trends that explain what is changing over time and why it matters.
  • Briefings that translate wider evidence into practical guidance for specific organisation types, audiences or challenges.
  • Dashboards that help teams see useful patterns, signals and progress more clearly.
  • Pulse Checks that quickly test attitudes, confidence, priorities or emerging questions.

This will be developed over time, shaped by the needs of the organisations that join, contribute and support it.

Why this matters now

The arts and culture sector does not need more noise. It needs clearer signals.

Cultural organisations are facing questions around audience recovery, inclusion, participation, digital engagement, funding, income generation, local relevance, accessibility, AI and long-term sustainability.

No single organisation has the time or capacity to monitor everything alone. But by working together, organisations can share patterns, compare experience, learn faster and make better-informed decisions.

The Insights Hub will help turn individual questions into shared understanding.

Who it is for

The Insights Hub is for organisations and partners working across arts, culture and heritage, including museums, galleries, theatres, festivals, heritage organisations, cultural venues, libraries, creative networks, arts charities, community arts projects and place-based cultural partnerships.

It is especially useful for teams involved in audience development, marketing, programming, digital, fundraising, participation, learning, community engagement, leadership and strategy.

It is also relevant to funders, local authorities, sector bodies and partners who want a clearer view of what cultural organisations need, what audiences are doing and where support can have the greatest impact.

The early opportunity

The Insights Hub is being built now, which means early supporters can help shape it from the start.

We are looking for early members, partners and seed funders who want to be part of the first phase.

Early members can help test ideas, contribute questions, take part in surveys and use the first insights as they emerge.

Partners can help shape themes, contribute expertise, support research activity or connect the hub to wider sector priorities.

Seed funders can help accelerate the build, support participation from smaller organisations and make sure the hub becomes a useful shared resource rather than a closed product for those with the biggest budgets.

What early supporters will help make possible

Early support will help us develop the first version of the Insights Hub in a focused and practical way.

That includes:

  • Creating the first reports, briefings and pulse checks.
  • Running early surveys with arts, culture and heritage organisations.
  • Building useful benchmark categories and dashboard models.
  • Identifying the questions organisations most need answered.
  • Testing the best way to present insight so it is clear, usable and actionable.
  • Connecting insights to practical next steps through playbooks, campaign support, AI resources and community discussion.

The goal is to build something that is not only informative, but genuinely useful in day-to-day decisions.

How the Insights Hub connects to the wider hub

Insights are only useful if they help people decide what to do next.

That is why the Insights Hub is designed to connect with the wider support ecosystem.

When an insight identifies a challenge, the Knowledge Hub can help explain the method behind it. The Digital Toolkit can point organisations towards useful tools and systems. The AI Lab can help teams test practical AI use cases safely. The Campaign Hub can help turn an opportunity into a focused campaign. The Community Hub can give organisations a place to discuss findings, share experience and ask better questions.

The Insights Hub provides the evidence. The wider hub helps turn that evidence into action.

Our promise

The Insights Hub will help arts, culture and heritage organisations stay informed without having to monitor everything themselves.

It will turn research, benchmarks, surveys, dashboards, audience feedback and sector evidence into practical understanding.

It will be built with the organisations it is designed to support, improved over time, and shaped around the real questions, pressures and opportunities facing the sector.

Join the first phase

We are now inviting early members, partners and seed funders to help bring the Insights Hub to life.

If you want better evidence, clearer benchmarks, stronger shared learning and more practical insight for the arts, culture and heritage sector, this is the moment to get involved.
